Study in Japan

Choose your school

There are many Japanese language education institution in japan. You should choose best school for your purpose.

  • Japanese Language Institutes

Japanese language institutes are for international students with "Student" status of residence aiming to be admitted to higher education institutions in Japan.

  • Preparatory Japanese Language Programs offered at Private Universities and Junior Colleges

Some private universities and colleges offer preparatory Japanese language courses in a similar way as Japanese language institutes offer.

When can you start

Most of the educational institutions in Japan start their academic year in April. There are some institutions which start academic year in October.

Some of Japanese Language Institutes offer programs starting in July and/or January.

Important point

The maximum period of enrollment at a Japanese language education institution is 2 years.

After completing a Japanese language education institution, if you proceed to a higher education institution (university, vocational school), you will need N2 or higher Japanese ability to understand the lessons taught in Japanese.

Most of the educational institutions in Japan finish in March.
You can only stay 1 year and six months at Japanese language education institution when you start study from October.

For this reason I recommend starting your study from April.

How much does it cost

By solely depending on part-time work, it is impossible to cover all school expenses and cost of living. Be sure to make an appropriate financial plan.

  • Academic Fees

One year course: ¥600,000 to ¥997,400

  • The cost of living

The average monthly expenses (excluding academic fees) of an international student are ¥72,000 to ¥100,000.
